There are two things you need to do, once Word is installed, to simplify writing technical documents

  1. Configure Word's default options
  2. Install document templates

Of the two, the second is the most important. Installing document templates will help you create consistently good looking reports quickly. Creating templates from scratch is very time consuming, so you might like to try our templates first.

We've counted more than 200 options in Word. With many default settings selected to illustrate new features in Word, it is worth making a few changes to suit the way you work. We've looked at all the options and tabulated the settings we recommend.
